Marie Isabelle Schikora O'Malley was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1913 and entered eternal life on February 25, 2011, at the age of 97. On July 30, 1995, her beloved husband of 59 years, Lawrence E. O'Malley, entered eternal life. She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses , Carol Sue O'Malley Dortignac and Jack R. Dortignac; Maureen Anne O'Malley; Lawrence Patrick O'Malley and Geraldine Kaminski O'Malley and Timothy Joseph O'Malley sr. and Sarita Royer O'Malley. Along with 4 children, she has 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Isabelle and Lawrence moved to California from Detroit in 1947. They both served at St. Joseph's parish in Hawthorne, CA and were Eucharistic Ministers at St. Francis parish in Vista, CA where they retired. After the death of Lawrence she lived with Tim and Sarita in Rancho Bernardo, CA. In her final years she lived with Pat and Geri in Bakersfield, CA as well as Sue and Jack in La Habra, CA. Sue was her primary caregiver and with incredible sacrifice cared for her to the end. We were all given a great gift of being able to be there with her the night before she died. She passed into eternal life peacefully the next morning.
Isabelle's funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Parish in Vista, CA and will be celebrated by her friend, Rev. William Springer. She will be interred at the Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery in Oceanside, CA, along side the love of her life, her husband, Lawrence. A reception will be held afterward.
She passed on her faith to her family and we are eternally grateful. The first word she taught her youngest to say was "Jesus"; by the grace of God it will be the last. Isabelle was an amazing lady and loved by all.
In the words of her niece, Sharon O'Malley;
"A little lady with sparkling eyes and a great smile.
Making everyone feel comfortable in her presence.
Non judgmental, confident, intelligent and understanding.
Always being in the moment while engaging in a conversation.
A wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend.
Her faith in the Lord gave her much strength.
Everyone who has met her and knew her has lost a little bit of their heart.
Now she is with the Lord. It was a honor to have known her.
Let's all take time to reflect on her life and incorporate a little of it in own and
this would be a better place to live. She will be greatly missed."
Rest in peace sweet Mom, Grandma, GG, Aunt and friend. Goodbye for now
