Joseph T. Cooke, 83, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013, at his home in Sunland.

Services and Internment were held Tuesday February 19, 2013, at the Riverside National Cemetery and included the remains of his wife Gladys.

Joe was born in Wichita, Kansas, November 7, 1929, to Mary Eva and Michael C. Cooke. He is survived by two sons Joey and Billy Cooke of Sunland, a daughter Stephanie (John) Matas of Winnipeg, Canada, grandsons Eli Matas and Jesse Matas of Winnipeg, sisters Catherine Rosselot of Topeka, Kansas, Rita (Clayton) Sadowski of Newton, Kansas, and Jean (Arlo) Bauer of Wichita, Kansas.

He graduated from Newton High School in 1948. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from the US Post Office in Van Nuys, CA.

He enjoyed going to the horse races, spending time in Las Vegas with his siblings on their reunions, and traveling to Reno to spend time with friends. He will be dearly missed by family which includes his many loving nieces and nephews!
